14:00 - 15:00 Lecture Chimeras, Chaos and Bifurcations School MATHEMATICS In Greek mythology, the chimera was a fire-breathing monster having a lion?s head, a goat?s body, and a serpent?s tail. Today the word refers to anything composed of incongruous parts, or anything that seems fantastical. Chimera states have attracted ample attention of researchers that work at the interface of physics and life sciences. In some networks oscillators splits into two domains: one coherent and phase locked, the other incoherent and desynchronized. The coexistence of coherent and incoherent states, known as chimera states, is particularly important and characteristic for neuronal systems. Chimeras have also been linked to the Par ... 16:00 - 18:00 Biweekly Seminar Bundle Theory and the Problem of Intrinsic Change School PHILOSOPHY Bundle Theory and the Problem of Intrinsic Change ... |
